The Tiroler Landestheater has announced that it will be extending its CEO Irene Girkinger contract for another five years.

As a result, she will stay until August 31, 2033.

Since the season 2023-24, Girkinger has been leading the company and has focused on versatile, courageous and contemporary programming, cross-disciplinary work, the promotion of young talents and a theatre that faces the questions of our time with all her heart and soul.

In a statement Girkinger sad, “Now we can further develop our artistic visions and plan further for the long term. We still have lots of ideas – be surprised!”

Girkinger has worked at the  Salzburg Festival and the Wiener Volkstheater. She has also served as artistic director of the Vereinigte Bühnen Bozen,
