Tiroler Festspiele Erl Announces Cast Change for ‘I Puritani’

The Tiroler Festspiele Erl has announced a cast change for its Jan. 4, 2025 performance of “I Puritani.”

The company said, “the second concert performance of Vincenzo Bellini’s opera ‘I Puritani’ will also feature a different singer than planned in the role of Elvira – and one of the most sought-after sopranos has once again been able to step in. After the stormy acclaimed performance on December 28, 2024, which was led to a triumph by Jessica Pratt, the audience can now expect the star soprano Lisette Oropesa in the role of Elvira on January 4, 2025. The Tiroler Festspiele regrets that Zuzana Marková cannot sing the second performance due to illness and wishes her a speedy recovery.”

Oropesa first performed the role of Elvira at the Teatro San Carlo and is set to perform a production of the work at the Paris Opera later this month. She also made a complete recording of the work. She is a well-known soprano who has performed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London.

Oropesa joins a cast that includes Levy Sekgapane, Mattia Olivieri, and Giorgi Manoshvili. Lorenzo Passerini conducts the concert performance.
