For its tenth and final season Third Eye Theatre Ensemble will present Gian Carlo Menotti’s “The Consul.”

Third Eye Theatre Ensemble was intentional in choosing its final piece as it harkens back to the company’s first production ten years ago, Menotti’s “The Medium.” “The Consul” was also chosen for its “themes of political oppression and personal sacrifice.”

“The Consul” will be performed with piano accompaniment at The Edge Theater in Chicago from Sept. 23 through Oct. 8.

The company’s statement on its final season says, “Over the past decade, Third Eye Theatre Ensemble has been dedicated to producing thought-provoking and emotionally stirring operatic works in the Chicago storefront scene. We are proud of what we have achieved and the community we have built.”
