Theatre of Early Music to Present ‘Love, Beauty and Death in Venice’ & Handel’s ‘Jephtha’

In collaborative performances with the TD Concert Hall and the University of Toronto, McGill University, and Tafelmusik, the Theatre of Early Music will present “Love, Beauty and Death in Venice – A Baroque Pasticcio” and Handel’s “Jephtha.”

In the first concert, “Love, Beauty and Death in Venice,” Daniel Taylor will direct faculty and graduate students from the University of Toronto and McGill University. For the first time together, they will present many works by Handel, as well as other baroque composers.

Narrator Opera/CBC Radio Star Ben Heppner will host.

The concert is scheduled for March 2, 2023, at 7 pm local time. It will be held at TD Concert Hall in the Allied Music Centre, markivenue’svenue’s first classical performance.

“Jeptha” will be presented by the University of Toronto, the Theatre of Early Music, and Tafelmusik. This production stars tenor Owen McCausland with Daniel Taylor conductinPatrick’strick’s Catholic Church will host the concert on March 5 beginning at 7:3o pm.
