Theater Erfurt Puts General Director on Leave of Absence

By Francisco Salazar

Germany’s Theater Erfurt has put its General Director Guy Montavon on a temporary leave of absence following accusations of sexual assault and abuse of power.

The decision was made based on a report from a Berlin law firm.

According to reports, it is not yet known who the allegations are specifically directed against.

Montavon and the administrative director Angela Klepp-Pallas will also be put on a leave of absence until the next city council meeting on Feb. 7.

The city of Erfurt announced that the investigation report by the Berlin law firm provides grounds for a more in-depth examination of the incidents listed, which, among other things, affect the theater’s management culture. No further details were given.

Recently in December 2023, the company’s Music Director Alexander Prior resigned for Personal Reasons, only two years after he was named Music Director of the company.
