By David SalazarPerelman Performing Arts Center’s inaugural Democracy Cycle Festival is set to present the world premiere of “The Puerto Rico Experiment” as part of its 2027 season.
From Jan. 16 – 21, 2027, audiences will get a chance to see the work composed by Angélica Negrón, her Brooklyn-based indie electronic band Balún, and the Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth.
The piece is described as a tropical song cycle and was created in collaboration with four Puerto Rican poets, including Roque Raquel Salas Rivera, Nicole Delgado, Mara Pastor, and Ashley Pérez García. The production is presented in partnership with Under the Radar.
