The production, which is created in collaboration with France’s Les Épopées and Singapore’s Red Dot Baroque, will aim to celebrate the 60 years of diplomatic ties between France and Singapore and represents the first performances of a work by Charpentier in Singapore.
Leading the production will be Stéphane Fuget, Les Épopées’ artistic director, and Alan Choo, Red Dot Baroque’s artistic director and recipient of the NAC Young Artist Award 2024. The cast will feature French and Singaporean singers, including Isabelle Druet in the title role; David Charles Tay as Jason; Claire Lefilliatre as Nérine; Edward Kim as Créon; and Kira Lim as Créuse.
“We previously worked with Stéphane Fuget in 2022 on another programme for Voilah! French Festival and developed a really wonderful relationship,” noted Shridar Mani, The Opera People’s co-artistic director and company manager, per an official press release. “We have been speaking about this project for 3 years since then and are really excited to be presenting it – not least in that this collaboration is taking place in conjunction with an important year marking diplomatic ties between our two countries.”
