The Metropolitan Opera has announced the release of Thomas Adès and Tom Cairns’ “The Exterminating Angel.”

The opera, which had its American premiere last season, is set for international release on Feb. 22, 2019 through Erato. The opera stars Christian Van Horn, Amanda Echalaz, Sophie Bevan,  Audry Luna, David Portillo, Christine Rice, Alice Coote, Joseph Kaiser and John Tomlinson among others.

The opera had its world premiere at the Salzburg Festival in 2016 and subsequently appeared the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden before heading to New York City. The work was based on Luis Buñuel’s famed film from 1967.

The release marks the second of last season’s HD by Erato. The company previously released “Norma” with Sondra Radvanovsky and Joyce DiDonato.

Last season’s HD included “Die Zauberflöte,” “Lusia Miller,” “Tosca,” “La Boheme,” “L’Elisir d’Amore,” “Semiramide,” “Cosi fan tutte,” and “Cendrillon.”
