On June 4, 2021, the little OPERA theatre of ny will present a livestreamed concert entitled “Monteverdi & Other Treasures from the Seicento.”

The concert will feature one of Monteverdi’s earliest chamber operas, “Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda” which first premiered in Venice in 1624. There will also be instrumental and vocal music by Monteverdi’s contemporaries, such as Dario Castello and Barbara Strozzi.

The cast features acclaimed tenor Raul Melo as The Narrator, soprano Summer Hassan as Clorinda, and tenor Michael Kuhn as Tancredi. They will be led by Music Director and harpsichordist Elliot Figg, as well as director Philip Shneidman and Assistant Director Dalia Sevilla.

“Monteverdi & Other Treasures from the Seicento” comes as part of the Sixth Annual New York Opera Fest, presented by the New York Opera Alliance in partnership with OPERA America. Tickets are available beginning at $5, with $15 and $25 tickets available for those who wish to donate extra to the company. Those who purchase a ticket for $50 will receive their own virtual reality headset in the mail, allowing for an immersive concert experience.
