The Giulio Gari Foundation Announces Winners Of 2019 Vocal Competition

The winners of the 2019 Giulio Gari Foundation International Vocal Competition have been announced.

The first place winner is ByeongMin Gil of South Korea. The bass-baritone was followed by tenor Derrek Stark and sopranos Jessica Fasselt, and Elizaveta Ulakhovich. Finally, Errin Dunne Brooks took home the fifth prize in the competition.

Grant Awards were also given to soprano Sylvia D’Eramo and tenor Matthew Vickers. Finally, two sopranos, Pureum Jo and Amani Cole-Felder, took home Encouragement Awards.

“This year builds on our tradition of discovering and launching the careers of some of the finest young singers in classical song worldwide.  As the landscape in opera and the opera competition continues to shift we are redoubling our efforts to identify the young brilliant talents who are the future of opera,” Founding chairperson Gloria Gari stated in a press release.

The Giulio Gari Foundation was founded by his wife Gloria, Stephen De Maio and Licia Albanese as a tribute to the famed tenor.
