
The Dallas Opera Reveals Streaming Series for 2026
By David SalazarThe Dallas Opera (TDO) has announced a free seasonal streaming initiative featuring select productions from recent seasons, available on-demand via the company’s YouTube channel beginning May 1, 2026.
Recorded live at the Winspear Opera House, the operas will be released in monthly rotations through August 2026, each available for one month and all including English subtitles.
Additionally, beginning September 14, 2026, TDO will also partner with WRR 101.1 FM to broadcast four productions from its 2025-26 season as part of the station’s Concert Hall program, airing weekly at 8 p.m. ahead of the company’s 2026-27 season opening on October 9, 2026.
Streaming begins May 1 with Strauss’s “Elektra” (recorded February 2024), conducted by Emmanuel Villaume and staged by Sir David McVicar with designs by John Macfarlane, and starring Marjorie Owens in the title role alongside Angela Meade, Jill Grove, and Alfred Walker. The same month features Verdi’s “La traviata” (recorded October 2024), conducted by Iván López Reynoso in Louisa Muller’s production, with Yaritza Véliz as Violetta, Javier Camarena as Alfredo Germont, and Alfredo Daza as Giorgio Germont.
In June, Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” (recorded November 2022) is among the streams. The work, conducted by Emmanuel Villaume in Doug Fitch’s production, features Kangmin Justin Kim as Hansel, Elena Villalón as Gretel, and Patricia Racette in the dual role of Mother and Witch. The month also includes Gluck’s “Orpheus and Eurydice” (recorded February 2025), conducted by Villaume, directed by Joachim Schamberger, and featuring Hugh Cutting as Orpheus and Madison Leonard as Eurydice.
July programming includes Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” (recorded April 2023), conducted by Villaume, directed by Michael Cavanagh, and featuring Caitlin Gotimer, David Portillo, Kayleigh Decker, and Lucas Meachem; as well as the world premiere of Talbot’s “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” (recorded November 2023), conducted by Villaume, directed by Leonard Foglia, and starring Lucas Meachem as Jean-Dominique Bauby alongside Richard Croft, Sasha Cooke, Deanna Breiwick, and Kevin Burdette.
August includes Verdi’s “Rigoletto” (recorded October 2022), conducted by Villaume and directed by Tomer Zvulun, with George Gagnidze, René Barbera, and Madison Leonard; and Wagner’s “Das Rheingold” (recorded February 2023), conducted by Villaume, directed by Zvulun, and starring Nicholas Brownlee, Amanda Echalaz, Michael Mayes, Brenton Ryan, Barry Banks, Lindsay Ammann, and Peixin Chen.
Following the streaming series, WRR 101.1 FM will broadcast four TDO productions beginning September 14 with Bizet’s “Carmen” (recorded October 2025), conducted by Villaume, directed by Romain Gilbert, and starring Marina Viotti, Saimir Pirgu, Teresa Perrotta, and Gihoon Kim.
On September 21, Poulenc’s “Dialogues of the Carmelites” (recorded November 2025) will get a broadcast. The work is conducted by Villaume and features Joyce El-Khoury, Stéphanie d’Oustrac, Leah Hawkins, Deanna Breiwick, and Patricia Racette.
Then on September 28 comes Portman’s “The Little Prince” (recorded February 2026), conducted by Paolo Bressan and starring Kyle Miller and Everett Baumgarten.
The series concludes on October 5 with Verdi’s “Don Carlo”(recorded March 2026), conducted by Villaume, and featuring Stephen Costello, Nicole Car, Christian Van Horn, Clémentine Margaine, Morris Robinson, and Etienne Dupuis.
