The Dallas Opera Reveals 10 Finalists for 2025 Lone Star Vocal Competition

The Dallas Opera has announced the 10 finalists for its 2025 Lone Star Vocal Competition.

The finalists include soprano Amelia Burshe, bass-baritone Sam Dhobhany, mezzo-soprano Stephanie Doche, mezzo-soprano Joanne Evans, mezzo-soprano Ani Kushyan, mezzo-soprano Kayla Nanto, baritone Michael Pandolfo, soprano Ardeen Pierre, and soprano Laura Corina Sanders.

The 10 will perform on March 7, 2025, at the Winspear Opera House in front of a jury chaired by The Dallas Opera’s Artistic Consultant, David Lomelí. He is joined by Annie Burridge, General Director & CEO of Austin Opera; Jonathan Pell, TDO’s former Artistic Director; Kristian Roberts, TDO Director of Education; and Emmanuel Villaume, the Mrs. Eugene McDermott Music Director of The Dallas Opera.

The event will be hosted by Sylvia D’Eramo, who placed third in the 2022 National Vocal Competition and is starring in the company’s current production of “La Bohème.”

The first place winner will take home $5,000 with second place earning $3,000. Third place gets $1,500 and the “People’s Choice” will take home $1,000. Moreover, the first-place winner automatically qualifies for the final round of The Dallas Opera’s National Vocal Competition in 2026.
