The Dallas Opera Announces Free Community Events in Fall 2024
By Afton MarkayThe Dallas Opera has announced its fall 2024 lineup of free events.
In addition to its free community events, The Dallas Opera is offering livestreams of mainstage performances as well as sessions of the Hart Institute for Women Conductors, and more on its YouTube channel.
The annual People’s Choice concert features some of opera’s most recognizable tunes sung by soprano Yaritza Véliz, mezzo-soprano Siphokazi Molteno, tenor Wayd Odle, and baritone Alfredo Daza. The Dallas Opera’s new Chorus Director and Head of Music Paolo Bressan leads The Dallas Opera Orchestra. The Kern Wildenthal General Director and CEO Ian Derrer hosts.

Dallas Opera’s OperaTruck—an 18-wheel flatbed, outdoor mobile stage—hits the road bringing opera to community spaces including the Italian Festival.

The first TDO Connections event of the season explores the various uses of music in operatic storytelling, wellness practices, and cultural identity. This live panel discussion is co-moderated by Quodesia D. Johnson and Kristian Roberts.
Performance Date: November 7, 2024
The second TDO Connections event, Opera Community Circle, focuses on connecting through music. This session is designed for administrators in the opera field to explore how music brings the opera community together for a common goal, participants will join healing practitioners in this offering of mindfulness, celebration, and restoration.

Soprano Kathleen O’Mara and bass Keron Jackson solo in the annual Holiday Concert at the National Shrine Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
