The Crossing to World Premiere ‘Farming’

By David Salazar

The Crossing is set to world premiere Ted Hearne’s “Farming” this June.

The showcase, which is set for June 22-25 at Kings Oaks Farm in Bucks County, PA, will feature 24 vocalists alongside guitar, percussion, and electronics. The piece has been in development for four years and was commissioned and written for The Crossing. Ashley Tata directs the production.

“When [Jeff] Bezos traveled into space last summer,” said Hearne in an official press statement, “he said the journey was necessary in order to solve all our problems here on Earth. He also thanked Amazon employees for financing it through their labor. With ‘FARMING,’ we wanted to visualize our own corporation, whose mission falls nothing short of the creation of a new world, and whose employees are literally being milked.”

“Farming” will have its New York premiere at Caramoor this July as well as a performance in the Netherlands on July 4, 2023.
