The Boston Camerata Set to Present ‘Songs to the Lute’

By Nicolas Quiroga

The Boston Camerata is set to present “Songs to the Lute,” a virtual selection of the Song of the Renaissance and the Early Baroque for Lute.

The showcase, which is set for May 15, 2021, will feature lutist Nigel North alongside vocalist Anne Azéma, who is also the artistic director of Boston Camerata.

“In a strange, delightful way, this virtual production, to be viewed and heard online, is a very ‘authentic’ way to perform and enjoy this music,” Azéma in a press release. “Of course, we enjoy doing these songs in modern concert halls, but in my opinion, shaping them via 21st century technology actually brings us closer to their original savor.”

The duo will offer an all-French program that audiences can stream until May 31, 2021. The performance will take place at the Lyman Estate in Waltham, MA.
