The Bach Society of Saint Louis Unveils 2024-25 Season

The Bach Society of Saint Louis has announced its 84th concert season.

Rachmaninoff’s “Vespers” opens the season. The concert features guest soloists mezzo-soprano Emily Marvosh and tenor John Ramseyer, lead by A. Dennis Sparger.

Performance Date: October 6, 2024 (The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis)

The Bach Society Chorus and Orchestra present “O Come, All Ye Faithful” and Vivaldi’s “Gloria” in the “Christmas Candlelight Concert.” Soloists are soprano Josefien Stoppelenburg and mezzo-soprano Kate Tombaugh. A. Dennis Sparger conducts.

“Every year, our Christmas Candlelight Concert is a special highlight of our season. It’s a time for our community to come together, share the joy of music and create lasting memories with loved ones,” said Executive Director Melissa Payton in a press release related to this concert. “The intimate setting, festive music and the Candlelight Processional make this concert a truly special experience that captures the spirit of Christmas.”

Performance Dates: December 18 & 19, 2024 (560 Music Center)

Soprano Bethany Worrell and bass-baritone David Newman lead Brahms’ “Requiem” under the direction of Sparger.

Performance Date: March 22, 2025 (First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood)

Closing the season is Bach’s “Mass in B minor,” starring soprano Clara Rottsolk, mezzo-soprano Luthien Brackett, tenor Lawrence Jones, and bass-baritone Michael Dean. A. Dennis Sparger leads the Bach Society of Saint Louis Chorus and Orchestra.

Performance Date: April 27, 2025 (First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood)
