By David Salazar

The Atlanta Opera has announced the six members of the 2019-20 Atlanta Opera Studio.

The Studio will feature two returning artists as well as four new ones for the coming season.

The returning artists include mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Sarian and Baritone Jonathan Bryan. The new artists include soprano Jouelle Roberson, bass Isaac Kim, pianist and vocal coach Alvaro Corral Matute, and stage director Ellen Jackson.

“We are so pleased with the growth of this program and the quality of young singers we are attracting to The Atlanta Opera,” said Carl W. Knobloch, Jr. General and Artistic Director Tomer Zvulun in a press release. “It is important to us to give these artists experience on our main stage, provide them with the best coaching, and send them out into the industry as the best singers they can be. I think the success of our alumni speaks to the success of our Studio artist program.”

Artists in the Studio will get a chance to be featured in supporting roles of the company’s mainstage productions.
