The Savonlinna Opera Festival has announced a cast change for its production of “Macbeth” on July 12, 2025.

The company said that Francesco Pio Galasso will sing the role of Macduff, replacing Johan Krogius.

The tenor took to social media to announce the news and said, “Tonight I’ll jump in as Macduff in Macbeth here at Savonlinna Opera Festival with another amazing cast! Wishing a soon recovery to my colleague Johan Krogius and a big Toi Toi Toi to everyone.”

Galasso has performed at major theaters including the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Bolshoi Theatre, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Fondazione Arena di Verona, Hungarian State Opera, Teatro Verdi di Salerno, Teatro de La Zarzuela in Madrid, and Teatro Euskalduna in Bilbao. 

He is set to join a cast that includes Gabriele Viviani, Saioa Hernández, Goran Juric, and Andrea Galli. Lorenzo Passerini conducts.
