The Atlanta Opera To Produce Medical Supplies for Local Hospitals

By David Salazar

The Atlanta Opera has announced that its costume shop will be producing medical supplies for area hospitals.

Per a press release, all costume shop employees will be dedicating their working hours to the effort.

The idea was hatched late last week during a conversation between Atlanta Opera’s general director Tomer Zvulun and Grady Health System’s CEO John Haupert.

“When I pitched the idea to John, he immediately connected me with his vice president, Mark Terranova, who is in charge of supply chain, and Mark responded very enthusiastically to the idea” said Zvulun in the release. “This is a time of great need for the medical community and the community at large. The question that we ask ourselves is no longer ‘how can we save a production?’ but ‘how can we save lives?’”

The costume shop workers will be creating a mask meant to cover N95 respirator marks and prolong their usable lives.
