The Atlanta Opera to Open with ‘The Magic Flute’

The Atlanta Opera is set to open its 45th Anniversary season with a production of W.A. Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.”

The production, which is a pop-up storybook production, will be performed on the stage at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Nov. 2, 5, 8, and 10, 2024.

The cast will include Santiago Ballerini as Prince Tamino, Mei Gui Zhang as Pamina, Luke Sutliff as Papageno, and The Queen of the Night will be portrayed by Rainelle Krause. Music Director Emeritus Arthur Fagen will conduct The Atlanta Opera Orchestra and the production will be produced and directed by Tomer Zvulun, Carl W. Knobloch, Jr. General and Artistic Director of The Atlanta Opera.

In a statement, Zvulum said, “We are so delighted to bring back The Magic Flute to the stage in a magical production that truly embraces the joy and wonder of this work. The cast includes a top-notch group of singers, some returning (Santiago Ballerini, Barry Banks, Luke Sutliff, Mei Gui Zhan) and some making their debuts (Peixin Chen, Rainelle Krause). This will be a truly magical experience for kids, grown-ups, and everyone in between.”
