The Atlanta Opera has announced that it will partner with Milton Clipper and his company Clipper & Company to develop a strategic plan for equity, diversity and inclusion, aimed at serving the citizens of Atlanta equitably.

Clipper will aid the company in its recruitment, hiring, training, and culture.

The Atlanta Opera has expanded its theater productions and broadcasts in order so that they reflect the diversity and inclusion in Atlanta in different communities, such as those of color, LGBTQAI+, women, and military veterans. These efforts have been recognized by the industry, donors, and the general public.

“The Atlanta Opera is deeply committed to achieving equity, diversity and inclusion in all we do,” said Rhys T. Wilson, Chair of The Atlanta Opera’s Board of Directors, said in a press release.  “We have engaged Clipper & Company to help us advance this critical work.  Milt Clipper’s impressive track record of success in leading diversity initiatives and non-profit organizations, plus his strong connections to our city, made him and his team the ideal choice.”

“Our city has always been a leader in the fight for civil rights and equality,” stated Carl W. Knobloch, Jr. General and Artistic Director Tomer Zvulun in the press release. “The Atlanta Opera understands on all levels of the company, that real change is necessary. We have collaborated with our board of directors, our staff and our consultancy company, Milton Clipper, on creating a shared purpose that forges a path that will achieve a significant change in relation to systemic racism in the opera industry.
