By David Salazar

The American Opera Project has announced the first issue of its self-published “Zine.”

The issue will shine a spotlight on “Eat the Document,” a new opera by John Glover and Kelley Rourke, directed by Kristin Marting. The zine includes several images, essays, and activities as well as a series of songs from the opera.

“Eat the Document” is based on the 2006 novel by Dana Spiotta about a radical from the 1970s who lived in hiding for 25-years. It is a story of activism, sacrifice, and the cost of living a secret.

The cast featured on the first “Zine” stars Justine Aronson, Amy Justman, Paul Pinto, Tim Russell, and Jonathan Woody. Instrumentalists featured include Mila Henry, Abi Fayette, Rachel Shapiro, Jessica Meyer, Andrew Yee, Shayna Dunkelman, and Liz Faure. Mike Gurfield is the sound producer with Ken Feldman the sound engineer on the project.

In sum, there will be three anticipated issues.
