
Tenor Ştefan von Korch Receives Award for Cultural Entrepreneurship
By David SalazarTenor Ştefan von Korch has received the Award for Cultural Entrepreneurship at the 27th Gale Club Antreprenor for his work as host soloist and artistic coordinator of the Musical Extravaganza season in Bucharest.
Now in its third season, Musical Extravaganza presents opera and operetta in intimate thematic concerts with chamber accompaniment across Bucharest and extended stages in Braşov, Piteşti, Sibiu, and Craiova.
The first two seasons included over 20 concerts featuring soprano Oana Maria Şerban, soprano Cristina Maria Oltean, soprano Daniela Bucşan, baritones Adrian Mărcan, Lucian Petrean, and Fang Shuang, alongside the Orchestra of the National Operetta and Musical Theatre Ion Dacian and the Piteşti Philharmonic Orchestra.
Von Korch maintains an active international profile, with recent appearances at the Palermo Classica Festival, the Metropolitan Concert Hall Tokyo, the Zhuhai Opera House, the Kaiserslautern Opera, and Teatro Verdi Padua. In 2025 he performed in “Los Tres Tenores” concerts in Central America and appeared in Lehár’s “The Merry Widow 2.0,” directed by Andrei Şerban, at the National Opera in Iaşi. He has also participated in over 40 performances of Orff’s “Carmina Burana” at philharmonics and cultural institutions across Romania and broad. At the National Opera in Bucharest, his credits include “The Barber of Seville,” “The Elixir of Love,” “Falstaff,” and the Romanian national premiere of Bellini’s “I Puritani.”
