The Teatro Regio di Torino is set to present “Va’Peppino” as part of its RegioYoung.

The presentation, which is set to be presented on Feb. 4, 2023 at the Ridotto del Teatro Regio di Parma, will be shown for children from ages 5 and up.

The commission is part of Verdi Off 2022 and will feature the direction of Manuel Renga with text by Simone Dini Gandini. The set design will be by Chiara Laferlita.

“Va’ Peppino” tells the story of how “Nabucco‘ was written and will star actors Mario Mascitelli and Mario Aroldi. It will also feature soprano Angela Gandolfo accompanied by pianist Romolo Saccomanni.

The story will center around a young Verdi and his future wife Giuseppina Strepponi, who premiered the role of Abigaille.
