Teatro Regio di Parma to Present ‘La Favorita’

The Teatro Regio di Parma is set to present Donizetti’s “La Favorita.”

The Donizetti classic, which returns to the theater after 40 years, will be presented in a new co-production with the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, directed by Andrea Cigni.

Matteo Beltrami will conduct the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana and chorus of the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza with will star Simone Piazzola as Alfonso XI, Anna Maria Chiuri as Leonora di Guzman, Celso Albelo as Fernando, Simon Lim as Baldassarre, Andrea Galli as Don Gasparo, and Renata Campanella as Ines.

“La Favorita” will be presented for two performances on Feb. 23 and 25, 2022.

This season the Teatro Reio di Parma is still set to present “Norma” in March with Angela Meade and “The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny” in April.
