Teatro Regio di Parma Announces RegioYoung 2021-22 Season

The Teatro Regio di Parma has announced the RegioYoung for 2021-22 featuring eight shows and 20 performances.

The season will also include four workshops that will take place between Nov. 4 and May 2022. The Teatro Regio di Parma’s family season will be dedicated to families and children from 0 to 14 years old and feature jazz music and works by such composers as Verdi, Rossini, Tchaikovsky, and Bizet.

ParmaFrontiere will present a new edition of “Cartoons.” Jazz music will be performed to showcase the exploration of the jungle and imaginary cartoon characters. The production will star Sabina Borelli, Diletta Longhi, Matteo Valentini, Paolo De Matteis, Giancarlo Patris, and Benedetta Rositano.

Performance Dates: Oct. 30, 2021

“Rigoletto” will be shown in a reduced version co-produced by Opera Domani and Bregenzer Festspiele. Manuel Renga directs the production while Cesare Della Sciucca conducts the Orchestra 1813.

Performance Dates: Nov. 20, 2021

“La bella addormentata” makes its world premiere with music by Tchaikovsky. The work is a coproduction with Teatro del Cerchio and is inspired by Sleeping Beauty. Mario Mascitelli directs with Mario Aroldi, Gabriella Carrozza, Chiara Casoli, Mario Mascitelli, Silvia Santospirito, Martina Manzini, and Martina Vissani starring. Roger Catino conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 26 & 27, 2021

For its 20th year, Imparolopera will present “Carmen,” interpreted by Bruno Stori and featuring students from the Conservatorio di musica “Arrigo Boito” di Parma.

Performance Dates: Jan. 9, 2022

OPERA MENO 9, Viaggio musicale per famiglie in attesa is a workshop that allows youth to discover music and voice. This year will be dedicated to “La Cenerentola.”

Performance Dates: Feb. 19-April 9, 2022

“Dolce Cenerentola” will be performed in a reduction by the Teatro Regio di Parma. Simone Guerro directs and Nadia Milani animates.

Performance Dates: March 25 & 26, 2022

“CenerentoQUA CenerentoLA” for children zero to three will directed by Sara Zanobbio with musical dramaturalogy by Anna Pedrazzini.

Performance Dates: April 23, 2022

“Black Aida” will be performed at the Teatro Regio di Parma in a new version for adults, children and the youth. The production stars Bintou Outtara, Fiammetta Tofoni, and Souleymane Diabate. Gianfranco Stortoni conducts and Filippo Ughi directs.

Performance Dates: May 8, 2022

“La Cenerentola. Grand Hotel dei sogni” will be performed at the Teatro Regio di Parma in adaptation by Daniele Menghini. Enrico Lombardi conducts the Orchestra 1813 and directed by Daniele Menghini in a coproduction by Théâtre des Champs-Elysées Opéra de Rouen.
