Teatro Real de Madrid Cancels Performance of ‘Aquiles en Esciros’

By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro Real de Madrid canceled the Feb. 21 performance Corselli’s “Aquiles en Esciros” due to cast-wide illness.

The Madrid theater said that neither Franco Fagioli nor Gabriel Díaz would be able to sing the role of Aquiles/Pirra due to illness. As a result, the performance will be moved to Feb. 26. Audience members with tickets will be able to use their tickets for the replacement performance or for another performance.

The next performance of the Corselli opera will be held on Feb. 23. The cast will include Mirco Palazzi, Tim Mead, Francesca Aspromonte, Sabina Puértolas, Gabriel Díaz, Krystian Adam, and Juan Sancho.

The opera is set to run through Feb. 26, 2023.
