Teatro Real Announces More Cast Changes for ‘Aida’

The Teatro Real has announced the final replacements for Maria Agresta in Verdi’s “Aida.”

The company announced that for the performance on Oct. 29, Robert Mantegna will perform the title role while on Nov. 11, Vittoria Yeo will join the roster in the title role. Finally, on Nov. 14, Krassimira Stoyanova will perform.

Stoyanova and Mantegna will add one performance from the additional ones that they had already been scheduled for while Yeo will join the production.

The news comes a day after the Teatro Real announced that Anna Netrebko would be taking over three performances from Agresta, who was forced to cancel for personal reasons.

“Aida” opens on Oct. 24 and will be performed 20 times. The opera will be conducted by Nicola Luisotti, Diego García Rodríguez, and Daniel Oren. The opera will also star Jamie Barton, Sonia Ganassi, Ketevan Kemoklidze, Piotr Beczala, Yusif Eyvazov, Jorge de León, Alexander Vinogradov, Jongmin Park, Simón Orfila, Carlos Álvarez, Artur Rucinski, and Gevorg Hakobyan.
