Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi to Revive ‘Il turco in Italia’ For First Time in 205 Years

Rossini’s “Il turco in Italia” is set to be presented at the 57th season of the Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi.

The opera, which has been absent for 205 years from Jesi, will be showcased in a new production by Roerto Catalano on Nov. 8 and 10.

The cast will be led by Elena Galitskaia as Donna Fiorilla, Bruno Taddia and Daniele Terenzi as Prosdocimo, Maharram Huseynov as Selim, Fabio Capitanucci as Don Geronio, Francisco Brito as Don Narciso, and Francesca Cucuzza as Zaida.

Hossein Pishkar will conduct the Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini and Coro Lirico Veneto which is prepared by Flavia Bernardi.

The season will also include the modern premiere of I Quadri Parlanti by Spontini and Verdi’s “La Traviata.”
