Teatro Nacional De Sao Carlos Cancels ‘La Bohème’

The Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos has canceled its production of Puccini’s “La Bohème.”

The theater announced that due to a strike announced by the CENA-STE – Trade Union of Exhibition, Audiovisual and Musician Workers, the entire run of performances were canceled.

The theater will return tickets to ticket holders.

The run of performances was set to star Natalia Tanasii, Susana Gaspar, Dmytro Popov, Carlos Cardoso, Julia Novikova, Christian Luján, Diogo Oliveira, and André Henriques.

Diego Matheuz was set to conduct Arnaud Bernard’s production.

The company next presents “Don Quixote.” The 2019-20 season has yet to be announced as strikes continue. According to unions, the strike will continue until their members receive parity with the higher-paid Companhia Nacional de Bailado.
