
Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo Unveils 2026 Season
By David SalazarBogotá’s Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo has announced its 2026 season. Here are the vocal performances on offer.
“The Flying Dutchman” opens the season in a production by Marcelo Lombardero. Stefano Lano conducts the Wagner work, which stars Hernán Iturralde, Betty Garcés, Valeriano Lanchas, Ana Mora, Hans Ever Mogollón, and Gustavo López Manzitti.
Performance Date: Feb. 17, 2026
The Coro Nacional de Colombia will present “The Sound of the Soul,” a program centered on Negro Spirituals. Diana Cifuentes and Jeisson Segura conduct.
Performance Date: April 11, 2026
Thomas Pasatieri and Frank Corsaro’s “Before Breakfast” will get a production by Alejandro Chacón with Ana Mora as the headliner.

Bar Avni leads the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia y el Coro Nacional de Colombia in a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection.”

Pedro Salazar will direct “La Bohème” with Andrés Orozco-Estrada conducting. The performance will be a production alongside La Compañía Estable.

Leonor Bonilla, César Martín, Antonio Gandía, and Rubén Amoretti will headline “La Tabernera del Puerto.” Miguel Ortega conducts and Mario Gas directs.

Rogert Díaz-Cajamarca will lead the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia y el Coro Nacional de Colombia in Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion.”

The Coro de la Ópera de Colombia will perform works by Beatriz Corona, Georgina Perazzo, Natalia Valencia Zuluaga, and Elaine Hagenberg, among others. Luis Díaz Herodier conducts and Rubén Pardo performs at the piano.

Countertenor Xavier Sabata leads “Furioso: Furia, Locura y Virtuosismo de un Héroe Barroco.” He is joined by conductor Franck-Emmanuel Comte and Le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu. The concert includes works by Händel, Vivaldi, Poppora, and Fux, among others.

Yeruham Scharovsky leads the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia y el Coro Nacional de Colombia in Mozart’s Requiem. Soloists include Ana Durlovski, Yeraldin León, and Igor Durlovski. The program also includes Mozart’s fifth violin concerto and the overture for “The Magic Flute.”

The Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, Coro Filarmónico Juvenil, and Coro Filarmónico Infantil will headline a Christmas concert.
