The Teatro dell’Opera di Rima has announced a cast change for its Verdi Requiem on Feb. 15, 2023.

The company said that due to illness, Elena Stikhina would not be able to perform. As a result, Eleonora Buratto will sing the soprano part. 

Buratto, who is scheduled to perform with the company in June in a production of “Madama Butterfly,” has performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Metropolitan Opera, Teatro San Calro, Salzburg Festival, Opéra Garnier, and the Ravenna Festival. This season she returns to the Metropolitan Opera and the Teatro alla Scala for productions of “La Boheme” and “Les Contes d’Hoffmann.”

Buratto joins a cast that includes Yulia Matochkina, Stefan Pop, and Giorgi Manoshvili. Michele Mariotti conducts the work.
