Teatro Alla Scala to Stream ‘Il cappello di paglia di Firenze’

The Teatro alla Scala is set to stream its production of Nino Rota’s “Il cappello di paglia di Firenze” on its streaming platform LaScalaTV.

The company will stream the opera on Sept. 10 at 19:45 CEST and the recording will be available on the platform until Sept. 17, 2024.

The production will star students from the La Scala Academy including Pierluigi D’Aloia, Huanhong Li, Marcela Rahal, Laura Lolita Perešivana, Vito Priante, Greta Doveri, and William Allione. The Rota work is directed by Mario Acampa and will be conducted by Donato Renzetti.

Nino Rota composed the work in 1945 but was not performed for another 10 years. The opera was last staged at La Scala in 1998 by Bruno Campanella and Pier Luigi Pizzi.

“Il cappello di paglia di Firenze” opened on Sept. 4 and runs through Sept. 18, 2024.
