Teatro alla Scala Announces New COVID-19 Cases

By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro alla Scala has announced new coronavirus cases.

According to Tg Rai, two members of the orchestra, nine chorus members, and only one artist from the famed theater had symptoms. However, the Rai also reported that no ballet dancer tested positive.

The Teatro has been following all security protocols with mandatory social distancing, masks, temperature checks, and hand sanitizer.

The new cases come after Francesco Meli tested positive prompting La Scala to cancel the final performance of “Aida.” It also comes days after Italy reported record spikes in COVID-19 cases and the Teatro alla Scala was forced to make drastic changes to its fall season.

The company is still moving forward with its “La Boheme” production, which is set to open later in November.
