The Boston Symphony Orchestra and Tanglewood have announced new attendance rules for the upcoming 2021 festival season.

In a press release, the organizations noted that per new safety issuances by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there will be a limit of 9,000 audience members at all events; this represents 50 percent of the usual capacity of 18,000 at the festival.

Tanglewood will also maintain a social distancing protocol of at least three feet between all patron parties attending Boston Symphony Orchestra performances. Up to 2,400 people will be allowed into the Shed, while another 6,600 will be permitted to watch performances outdoors on the lawn.

While mask-wearing is no longer required, the company is still encouraging audience members who are not vaccinated to continue observing this protocol and consider social distancing.

Tanglewood is set to take place between July 9 – August 16, 2021.
