Sydney Anderson & Jordan Rutter-Covatto Star in counter codex’s ‘POLYMATH: La comédie de la Mort’

In its inaugural season the performing arts collective counter codex presents “POLYMATH: La comédie de la Mort.”

Countertenor and co-founder of the organization Jordan Rutter-Covatto (he/they) performs alongside soprano Sydney Anderson (she/her), pianist Mila Henry, and actor Saul Nache in “POLYMATH: La comédie de la Mort.” The team presents two world premiere song cycles by Joseph N. Rubinstein and Rutter-Covatto, art songs by Henri Duparc and Hector Berlioz, a live reading of an adaptation of André Salas’s screenplay, “Vampire at a Boys Dormitory,” and a series of portraits by GDM.

Performances take place at Nancy Manocherian’s the cell theatre in Chelsea on Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. and the following day at 2 and 8 p.m.

Counter codex focuses on vocal chamber music and the reexaminination the format and substance of classical music events. Counter codex strives to create an innovative concert experiences featuring a wide range of material and a focus on the social element of concertgoing.
