Swedish Opera på Skäret is set to present “Turandot” in the summer of 2025.
Hot off its production of “Norma” in 2024, the company revealed that it will be setting its sights on the Puccini classic, which will be mounted in the “large timber warehouse by the shores of Lake Ljusnaren.”
The organization will announce its production team at a later date and will begin casting for the opera via an open audition process at the end of November.
“Interest in our auditions has been overwhelming in recent years, with between 500-600 applicants from all over the world. I’m already looking forward to the scheduled audition days in November,” said Alexander Niclasson, Artistic Director of Opera på Skäret, per an official press release.
“Turandot” was originally planned for 2020 and 2021, but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
