The Scottish Opera has announced its 2024-25 season.

The season opens with Stravinsky’s “Oedipus Rex” with Stuart Stratford conducting and Roxana Haines directing. The cast will include Shengzhi Ren, Kitty Whately, Roland Wood, Callum Thorpe, Seumas Begg, and Emyr Wyn Jones.

Performance Dates: August 12-19, 2024

Britten’s “Albert Herring” will be conducted by William Cole and directed by Daisy Evans. Glen Cunningham, Susan Bullock, Jane Monari, Kira Kaplan, and Francis Church star. 

Performance Dates: Sept. 5-Nov. 13, 2024

David Stout, Stacey Alleaume, Filipe Manu, and Josef Jeongmeen Ahn star in Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale.” Stuart Stratford conducts the production by Renaud Doucet.

Performance Dates: Oct. 12-Nov. 21, 2024

Janáček’s “The Makropulos Affair” will star Orla Boylan, Brad Cooper, Henry Waddington, Mark Le Brocq, Catriona Hewitson, Roland Wood, Michael Lafferty, and Alasdair Elliott. Martyn Brabbins conducts the production by Olivia Fuchs.

Stuart Stratford conducts Lehar’s “The Merry Widow” in a production by John Savournin.

Performance Dates: April 30-June 14, 2025

Gilbert & Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury” and Emma Jenkins & Toby Hession’s “A Matter of Misconduct!” will be performed in a double bill. Gilbert & Sullivan’s work will star Richard Suart, Kira Kaplan, Jamie MacDougall, Chloe Harris, and Edward Jowle while Jenkins & Hession’s work will feature Ross Cumming, Jamie MacDougall, Chloe Harris, Kira Kaplan, and Edward Jowle. Toby Hession conducts the productions by John Savournin and Laura Attridge.

Young Company 

Jane Davidson & Karen MacIver’s “Red” will be conducted by Chris Gray and directed by Flora Emily Thomson.
