
Sungmin Park Takes Home First Prize in 2026 Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition
By Afton MarkayThe 44th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition has announced its 2026 winners.
The final round of competition was held in Jūrmala, Latvia from May 31 to June 7. The first prize and € 10,000 went to bass-baritone Sungmin Park. Soprano Forooz Razavi came in second (€ 5,000) and bass-baritone Son Jin Kim was awarded third place (€ 3,000).
The opera jury featured Rosemary Joshua, Viviana Barrios, Rosetta Cucchi, Dorothea Hartmann, Franziska M. Kaiser, Thomas Marshall, Hein Mulders, Nicola Raab, Christina Scheppelmann, Christoph Seuferle, and Melissa Wegner.
A number of other awards were given out such as the Media Prize, which went to Forooz Razavi.
Soprano Annija Kristiana Adamsone took home the Audience Prize and the Jane Carty Memorial Prize was awarded to baritone Zhengyu Li. Baritone Shunya Goto and soprano Sofia Savenko were given the Hans Gabor Prize, and the Prize of Friends of the Competition went to tenor Chen Li and soprano Jingyi Yu.
Registration for the 2027 competition will begin in January.
