Stignani Competition Announces 2024 Winners

The fourth Stignani Competition in Imola, Italy has announced its 2024 winners.

The competition saw the first prize go to the baritone Theo Magongoma. He also took home the audience prize. Meanwhile, the second prize went to bass Youngkug Jin, and the third prize was awarded to countertenor Augustín Pennino Arias.

Finally, the Ebe Stignani Prize for Best Dramatic Voice was awarded to mezzo-soprano Helena Köhne.

The jury was comprised of Luca Rebeggiani, director of Teatro Ebe Stignani Imola, and soprano Elvira Hasanagic, Founder of Stignani competition.

The competition was founded to honor the name of the celebrated leading dramatic mezzo-soprano of her time, Ebe Stignani. Stignanu performed at some of the greatest theaters in the world including the Teatro alla Scala and Teatro San Carlo, and was known for her Verdi, Wagner, and Saint-Saëns roles.
