Musica Sacra has announced its 2026-27 season, marking Music Director Kent Tritle’s 20th season with the chorus.

The season opens with “SurRound: The Earth Remembers.” The program spans Renaissance works by Mouton and Pérez Bocanegra alongside music by Meredith Monk, Paterson, Einojuhani Rautavaara, Caroline Shaw, and Christine Whitten Thomas.

Performance Date: Oct. 7, 2026

“Classics for Christmas: A Ceremony of Carols” features Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols” for chorus and harp, with guest harpist Mariko Anraku, alongside works for chorus and orchestra by Elgar, Händel, Leopold Mozart, Reena Esmail, Morton Lauridsen, and Wayne Oquin.

Performance Date: Dec. 17, 2026

Musica Sacra joins the Orchestra of the Zurich Opera House for “Götterdämmerung,” part of Carnegie Hall’s concert presentation of Wagner’s “Ring Cycle,” conducted by Gianandrea Noseda. The cast includes Klaus Florian Vogt, Daniel Schmutzhard, Christopher Purves, Mika Kares, Camilla Nylund, Iulia Maria Dan, and Agnieszka Rehlis.

Performance Date: March 23, 2027

“The Voices of Our Ancestors,” a 2014 work by Thea Musgrave for narrator, chorus, brass, and organ. Poet David Mills narrates and reads from his own poetry. The program opens with medieval polyphony and works by Josquin des Prez and Adrian Willaert.

Musica Sacra returns to perform with the New York City Ballet in Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

Performance Date: May 25-30, 2027

Musica Sacra joins the New York Philharmonic for “Amadeus in Concert,” a live score performance of the film conducted by David Newman, part of the orchestra’s The Art of the Score series.
