Ştefan von Korch to Perform Concert of Romanian Repertory in Nuremberg

By Afton Wooten

After completing his 48 day and 27 show tour in China, Romanian tenor Stefan von Korch is set to perform in Nuremberg on October 7.

Titled “DOR” (Despre Oameni şi România / About People and Romania),  the performance will present exclusively arias and duets from Romanian operas and operettas. The audience will enjoy pieces such as “Lăsați-mă să cânt” and “Lysistrata” by Gherase Dendrino, “Ana Lugojana” by Filaret Barbu, “Crai Nou,” and more all selected by the conductor Cristian Sandu.

“I enthusiastically accepted this invitation, because it gives me the chance to introduce the audience to pillars of Romanian operatic repertory. I value these compositions, which I rarely get to sing, and I resonate with their folkloric core, because my first steps on stage have been through folkloric songs,” Von Korch said in a press release,

The concert will also feature soprano Antonia Beteag, mezzo-soprano Janetka Hoșco, baritone Cătălin Moței, and the Chamber Orchestra of the National Music Academy Gheorghe Dima from Cluj-Napoca.

The showcase will be held at Peterskirche at 7 pm. At the end of the performance Dr. Raluca Zglobiu of the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca will participate in a Q&A.
