The Staatstheater Kassel is set to open its 2026-27 season with a new production of Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Holländer” at INTERIM.

Premiering on Sept. 19, the production marks the podium debut of Clemens Fieguth as the company’s new First Kapellmeister and Deputy General Music Director. Staging is co-directed by Artistic Director Florian Lutz.

The cast includes Stefan Hadžić in the title role, with Adia Evans as Senta in her European debut. The production also features Brett Sprague as Erik, Daniel Noyola as Daland, Ilseyar Khayrullova as Mary, and Johannes Strauss as the Steersman, with the Kassel State Orchestra and the Opera Chorus and Extra Chorus of the Kassel State Theatre.

A public rehearsal will be held Sept. 14, ahead of the Sept. 19 premiere. Additional performances are scheduled for Sept. 24, Oct. 4, Oct. 9, Oct. 11, and Oct. 31.
