The Staatstheater Wiesbaden has announced that it has received the order by the State Ministry for Science and Art which bans the performances from Sep. 25 – Sep. 27, 2020.

According to the official statement on the opera house’s website, the reason for the cancellation is a hygiene concept that was approved by the Health Department of the city of Wiesbaden.

Accordingly, the opera house has canceled the performances of Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” on Sep. 25, 2020, and Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” on Sep. 26, 2020.

The Staatstheater Wiesbaden also stated that it is working on a solution so that the upcoming premiere of Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Lady Macbeth von Mzensk” on October 2, 2020 can be carried out as originally scheduled.
