The Tiroler Festspiele Erl has announced Asher Fisch as its new Music Director.

The news was announced at the presentation of the 2024-25 season.

In a statement, Artistic Director Jonas Kaufmann said, “With Asher Fisch as new Music Director of the Festival, we are pleased to have an internationally recognized conductor with decades of experience, highest work standards and expertise, who at his heart understands the importance of working with and developing the orchestra.”

He added, “He will spend a good portion of the season in Erl and combine his new function here with his many international engagements.”

Fisch is a well-known conductor who is currently Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, and previously was Music Director of the New Israeli Opera and Wiener Volksoper. He was also Principal Guest Conductor of the Seattle Opera.
