The Staatstheater Nürnberg has announced the first part of the 2020-21 season. In order to maintain flexibility, the company only announced the first quarter.

For this article, we will only focus on opera productions at this German theater.

The first production of the season will be Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” conducted by Joana Mallwitz and directed by Jens-Daniel Herzog.

Premiere Date: Oct. 2, 2020

The company will present an OPERNGALA with members of the opera ensemble. They will perform arias and ensembles from opera and operetta will be accompanied by musicians from the Nurnberg State Philharmonic.

Performance Date: Oct. 11, 2020

There will also be a Kinderkonzert with the theme of “Orpheus” central to the performance. The concert will include works by Offenbach and Monteverdi.

Performance Date: Oct. 18, 2020

The second opera production of the season will be Vivaldi’s “Bajazet” with Wolfgang Katschner conducting a production by Nina Russi.

Premiere Date: Nov. 7, 2020
