Staatstheater Karlsruhe Announces New Intendant

Staatstheater Karlsruhe has announced a new intendant. 

The company announced that Ulrich Peters will succeed Peter Spuhler as Intendant starting Sept. 1 and will take the position until August 31, 2024. 

Peters is currently the general manager at the Münster Theater. He studied literature, theater, and musicology as well as business administration in Munich. He went on to work in Freiburg in 1981 and later went to opera houses in Geneva and Brussels.

He also worked at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern and in Braunschweig, Osnabrück, Bremen, Dortmund, Halle, Magdeburg, St.Gallen, and Stockholm, among others. Peters has worked at Karlsruhe as senior director of the music theater and director of the Handel Festival. He was also director of the Augsburg Theater and at the State Theater of Gärtnerplatz in Munich.

The Staatstheater Karlsruhe recently announced its 2021-22 season which will once again include the international Handel Festival.
