Staatsoper Unter den Linden will hold the 20th edition of “Sonntag für die Staatsoper” on Oct. 11 at the Dussmann KulturKaufhaus on Friedrichstraße in Berlin.

The showcase is presented in cooperation with the opera house’s support association.

This year’s event is dedicated to the Kinderopernhaus Berlin, which has been part of the Staatsoper’s work for young audiences for more than 15 years. Staatsoper Intendantin Elisabeth Sobotka will open the day. Musicians of the Staatskapelle Berlin and other Staatsoper artists will perform throughout.

The musical program features Lindenbrass, the Staatskapelle Berlin’s brass ensemble, along with musicians from the Staatskapelle’s Orchesterakademie and singers from the Internationales Opernstudio. Audiences will hear music by Mozart, Dvořák, Wagner, Verdi, Puccini and Johann Strauss.

There will also be a panel discussion with Kinderopernhaus Berlin director Julia Rohrbeck, along with children and parents involved in the program.
