The Staatsoper Hannover has extended the contract for its intendant.

The company announced that Laura Berman will continue in her position until 2029.

Berman began her tenure with the company during the 2019-20 season. She was previously the opera director at the Theater Basel.

She is the founder of u.a. with Manos Tsangaris and Carola Bauckholt, a collective for experimental music theater. She has also served as deputy director and dramaturg of the dance theater at the Municipal Theater in Münster and the State Theater in Darmstadt and has worked as a freelance dramaturge for the Vienna Festival, the Bavarian State Opera, the Festivals in Schwetzingen and Berlin, the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and the Zurich Ballet, among other positions.
