By Francisco Salazar

The Staatsoper Hamburg has announced a director change for its upcoming production of Mozart’s Singspiel “Die Entführung aus dem Serail.”

The company noted that due to issues of artistic compatibility, director Paul-Georg Dittrich has decided to part from the production. As a result, David Bösch has taken over directing duties.

Bösch has directed for many companies including the Bayerische Staatsoper, Royal Opera House, Opera Vlaanderen, Opera de Lyon, and Oper Frankfurt. This season he is set to direct a new production of “Don Pasquale” for the Staatsoper Hamburg in May.

“Die Entführung aus dem Serail” is set to open on Oct. 17 and run through Nov. 13, 2021. The production will star Burghart Klaußner, Tuuli Takala, Narea Son, Dovlet Nurgeldiyev, Michael Laurenz, and Ante Jerkunica.
